The Maryland Bobcats are back in action on Wednesday taking on league leaders Chattanooga FC. The Bobcats looked clinical and dominant against Club de Lyon FC winning 3-0 in Daytona last Wednesday. Forward Darwin Espinal was named in NISA’s 3 Stars of the Week for Matchweek 16. Espinal opened the scoring in the 4th minute curling in a wonderful strike off the crossbar and in. In the second half Darwin Espinal was causing problems for the opposing defense again and slotted away his second bringing his total to 9 on the season. Substitute Akinlosotu then fired in the Bobcats third goal sealing the victory in style.
This will be the third match between the Bobcats and Chattanooga. The previous fixtures saw Chattanooga taking both wins. This time around with the Bobcats firing on the attacking front, they will look to threaten the Chattanooga’s backline.
Chattanooga have been impressive this year, only conceding 3 goals all season. On top of that, striker Markus Nagelstad is joint league goal scorer with Darwin Espinal at 9 goals each. Bobcats keeper Alex Sutton who had a great game in Daytona keeping the Bobcats in front will need to come up big again against Chattanooga’s strike force. With a win, the Bobcats into will 2nd place over Albion San Diego. This game will see both top strikers in the league going at it and we should have a great game on our hands and we need your support at the Maryland Soccerplex tomorrow night, 7/19.
